Human Security in the COVID-19 Era
OGATA Sadako Memorial Symposium
Aired: December 10, 2020 (UTC)
Information
It’s been one year since the passing of Ogata Sadako, who served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and president of JICA. In honor of her memory, a symposium was held in November 2020 on the subject of Human Security, a concept that she passionately advocated. A panel of experts from various organizations reviewed her achievements and discussed Human Security in the COVID-19 era, namely how to implement it through international cooperation.
Video messages from António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, were also shared at the symposium.
