The Birth of High-Performance Materials

Aired: September 17, 2020 (UTC)

Information

Aluminum is simple to process, slow to rust, and non-magnetic, leading to its use in a wide variety of items in our daily lives, such as electronics and packaging.

Toyo Aluminium was founded in 1931, and is one of the world’s top-class aluminum manufacturers, producing foils, powders and pastes made with aluminum. Ever since, they have used their years of expertise to create numerous high-performance materials that are unique in the world. These materials are used in the products of food product makers, paint makers, and more, finally ending up in the hands of everyday consumers. As a result, these consumers do not normally see the advances behind these materials.

This program will showcase how Toyo Aluminium products are inspired by nature and focus on 3 newly-developed materials made possible by Toyo Aluminium’s newly-developed technologies, as well as reenactments of the process from their creation to sale. It will also focus on the various advances in aluminum processing technologies and introduce the contributing researchers and sales staff who promote their high-performance materials.
