Addressing Global Challenges
Under the Japanese G7 Presidency
Information
In May 2023, the G7 Summit was held in Hiroshima, a city that suffered an atomic bombing and now has become a symbol of peace. The G7 leaders exchanged views on important issues including regional affairs, nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, economic resilience and economic security, food security, development, health, and climate and energy.
The visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum by G7 leaders, including those of nuclear-weapon States, and their observation of a moment of silence at the Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims impressed the world with the G7’s commitment to peace.
This program will introduce the outcomes of the G7 Hiroshima Summit, the discussions held at the G7 Ministerial Meetings held throughout Japan, and Japan’s contributions in addressing the issues.
