Episode Three: Thailand and Conclusions
The third episode of “ASEAN Now and the Future III – Plastics in the Ocean” features the program made by NTB World of Thailand and the summing up.

The program from Thailand introduces a plastic recycling campaign that produces monks’ robes, together with the activities of Professor Atsuhiko Isobe, the director of a microplastic research institute established jointly by Chulalongkorn and Kyushu Universities, and the 3R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle) campaign of the Thai government and private sector to replace conventional plastics with bioplastics, bio-coatings, etc.

The series concludes with the case of a town in Japan’s Tokushima Prefecture, now drawing attention as a futuristic SDG’s community. This town is the first in Japan to declare "zero-waste", and achieved an 80% waste recycling rate in 2016, with the goal of 100% by 2030. Also in the program, cooperation between ASEAN and Japan, new cooperative initiatives in the academic field will also be introduced.
