Established in 2009, the Japan Awards for Biodiversity honors organizations and individuals in Japan that have made exceptional contributions to preserving biodiversity and sustainable utilization of environmental resources. The program documents this year’s five awardees, their activities and the award ceremony held at the United Nations University this October.

The themes “sustainable use of biological resources” and “human’s coexistence with nature” have been garnering attention worldwide as an essential step to biodiversity conservation.

The program explores Japan’s environmental efforts and the future of biodiversity.
