Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the world is facing a major crisis in secure energy. Meanwhile, measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions remain vital. Japan has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2050. However, many challenges remain to achieving this goal.
Energy providers are being called on to decarbonize power. In Japan, the simultaneous achievement of “S+3E”, or “Energy Security”, “Economic Efficiency”, and “Environment” all in way that ensures “Safely” is vital. Because of Japan’s lack of resources, it is not able to rely on any one source of power and must work to develop an “Energy Mix” of different sources.
This program will showcase what measures are being taken by Japan’s energy providers in order to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
