Information
Asahi Glass enjoys the largest share of the world market for architectural and automotive glass. In recent years, it has expanded its production of smartphone and tablet screens and flat-screen TVs. In June 2013, its glass roof for player benches will debut at the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil. Kazuhiko Ishimura rose through the engineering department to the presidency in 2008. In the first half of that year, the company achieved record high sales figures but soon suffered a serious downturn brought on by the “Lehman crisis.” In the program, he explains how the business survived the global downturn. He also discusses the appeal and potential of glass, a major expansion in Brazil, and his management philosophy of human resources as power.
