Information
The Soma Nomaoi is a 1000 year-old traditional festival celebrated in Fukushima prefecture. It has also been held internationally, famous for its events that depict Japan during the time of the samurai. However, scale of the 2011 festival had been reduced due to the effects of the Great East Japan Earthquake. But in 2012, it made a vigorous comeback indicating the people's hope and efforts to recovery. Around 400 horsemen gathered to reenact valiant scenes during the Sengoku period based on ancient scroll paintings. The program follows a local family for a year, documenting their commitment to preserving tradition despite struggles.
