Fukui, a land of rich nature facing the Sea of Japan, will be connected to Tokyo by a bullet train in March 2024. This series looks at the culture nurtured in Fukui, where the spirit of ZEN was introduced from China more than 1,000 years ago, evolved here in its own unique way and spread around the world. World-class traditional culture was also born here, such as the sharp Echizen hammered cutlery, which has its roots in the Japanese sword manufacturing method, and Echizen washi paper, which was loved by famous painters.
