Information

Since 1993, the Japanese government has helped support development in Africa by working with the United Nations, the World Bank, and other organizations to present the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) six times. This year, the seventh TICAD conference was held from August 28 to 30 in Yokohama.
The TICAD7 program featured a panel discussion entitled Global Governance in Africa and Japan, which was presented by the Japanese international aid organization JICA.
Up to now, the international community has largely been based on multilateralism and liberalism. However, in recent years, unilateralism and protectionism have made the world significantly more unstable. Africa has achieved remarkable growth in the 21st century. Moving forward, what role should it play in the international community? In addition, what role should Japan play in supporting Africa’s development.
