Young Engineers Decommissioning Fukushima Daiichi
Information
The Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011 caused the TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident. 15 years later, with safety as the top priority, the work to fully decommission the facility continues, with approximately 3,600 and 5,000 employees engaging in each day’s decommissioning operations.
This program focuses on young engineers who are working tirelessly on these efforts, including the development of dedicated equipment and remote operations to remove fuel from the spent fuel pool inside Unit 2’s reactor building.
