Theater business owner Mizuno Taeko is working to establish a new base for Taishu Engeki in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district, Tokyo’s top entertainment center. Taishu Engeki, which translates as “theater for the masses,” comprises a play and musical performance and remains popular in western Japan and rural areas. However, there are few theaters in the Tokyo area. By opening one equipped with cutting-edge digital technologies in the heart of Tokyo, Mizuno Taeko hopes to popularize Taishu Engeki in the metropolis and reach a larger audience.
